THE SOCIAL LIFE
All this training and racing can get very serious if you let it. At TVT we like to take the lighter approach. We love a beer, we love a curry, we love a coffee and we love a social. So much so, we have a social secretary on our commitee.
Most months, we try to meet at a local pub for food, a few drinks and a good chin wag. This is a great chance for new members to meet the old faithfuls.
Every October we celebrate the end of the season with the BEST day in the Triathlon calendar, the TVT awards dinner. Awards are given not just to the best athletes, but the most improved, the good egg and more. Once the awards presentations are done, the dancing juice takes over, with some serious dad dancing!
Every year we also look to book a weekend or a week away to do extra training (which often includes socialising too). Groups have travelled to Majorca for pre-season training camps, and UK trips have included The Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, Brecon Beacons and Cheddar Gorge. In August 2019, more than 40 TVT members travelled to Vichy, France for both the full Ironman event and the 70.3 that takes place the day before.
Informal socials also take place throughout the year, and are organised on our very active "unofficial" Facebook group.
